c.1923 Einfalt, Clockwork Tin Litho "Fighting Cocks"

c.1923 Einfalt, Clockwork Tin Litho

From a recent upstate New York estate find comes this awesome clockwork toy; catalog named "Fighting Cocks". Early tin toy made by Einfalt in Nuremberg, Germany. It has no identifying marks. The toy grades near mint- and looks like it was never played with. The clockwork motor works great.

Very colorful lithography with embossed wings, tail feathers, and claw feet.

As with several similar toys produced by this company it moves sideways about 12" and changes direction, repeatedly; left or right. As it moves the metal ribbon connecting the two figures gives it a springing action which causes them to rock up and down as if they were fighting. Simple yet very effective toy!

Size: 9½ long x 4½" tall.
